Batian is the latest variety to be developed in Kenya, it is named after the peak of Mount Kenya

Released in 2010, the Batian variety is resistant to both leaf rust and the Coffee Berry disease, it also has good cup quality. This varietal is expected to grow in popularity in Kenya, and has the potential to be a ubiquitous on all Kenyan farms in the years to come
